Dr Ruth Kirk

Visiting Senior Fellow

Ruth is a Visiting Senior Fellow in Parasitology, previously an Associate Professor, in the School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy and Chemistry at Kingston University, London. Her interest in freshwater parasites and their vectors was instigated by a PhD in aquatic parasitology from Royal Holloway University of London and postdoctoral work at Exeter University and Royal Holloway. Ruth specializes in research on molecular identification of helminths, particularly zoonotic species and schistosomatids that cause cercarial dermatitis. She is also interested in the biology and development of schistosomes and cell-signalling interactions with their hosts.
