London School of Economics and Political Science

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is a public research university located in London, and a member institution of the federal University of London.

Since 2005, LSE has been involved in a range of NTD research focused on schistosomiasis, soil-transmitted helminths and lymphatic filariasis across Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Malawi.

Led by Professor Tim Allen, LSE has raised many questions to improve the efficacy of current strategies to control NTDs and demonstrated that the social context often played a critical role in their success.

LSE research has also led work to challenge the NTD community to improve ethical practices and avoid generalisations about diseases, particularly when their signs and symptoms vary between populations.

LSE is also a member of African Health Observatory Platform on Health Systems & Policies. The partnership leverages existing national and regional collaborations to form a network of National Centres across the region. These leading research institutions serve as the focal points for analysis and knowledge brokering within each country.
