NTD Modelling Consortium: Reaching the 2020 Goals for human onchocerciasis

This project explores, using mathematical models of onchocerciasis transmission and control:

  1. the feasibility of reaching the goals set by the London Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and the World Health Organization’s (WHO) roadmap on NTDs in the proposed 2020 timeframe with the  current strategy of annual distribution of ivermectin, and
  2. what other strategies, interventions or  combinations thereof would be necessary to achieve such goals in those settings where the current strategy is deemed insufficient.
