Schistosomiasis Control Initiative

Also based at Imperial College London is the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI), an organization that works to improve the health and development of the world’s poorest populations by eliminating the poverty sustaining and life-threatening effects of schistosomiasis and intestinal worms (hookworm, whipworm and roundworm). Currently SCI reaches some 40 million children and at risk adults every year assisting Ministries of Health to deliver drugs on an annual basis.

SCI has expertise and many years of experience in implementation of NTD control programmes. They bring knowledge and questions from the field to inform current and future research. SCI is currently implementing programmes in 14 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and in Yemen
